Description
"I am a penguin and I turn my head. Can you do it?" asked the
penguin. Twelve different animals challenging you to follow them,
literally moving yourself from head to toe. A large book with large
pictures in vivid color, against white background. Try wriggling your hips
like a crocodile or kicking your legs like a donkey! The other
animals includes a monkey, seal, gorilla, cat, camel, elephant and a
parrot.
Our review
The large, colorful pictures capture your attention immediately. Coupled
with the challenge posed by the animals to your children, they just can't
wait for you to turn the pages. They will be extremely eager to show you
that they can do it! Along the way, they will also learn the body parts
and some not-so-common animals' name. It would be great fun if you join in
the action, which includes kicking your leg into the air like a donkey.
Use your imagination, and you can extend it into a 5-minutes workout. At
the end of it, both of you will flop onto the couch feeling satisfied and
energized.

150mm (6.7 in X 6.95in). 1997. Boardback.
Description
A rhyme book that describes what a little baby sees in a typical day of
his life. The scene starts in the bedroom when the baby wakes up. Then as
the day progresses, there is the kitchen, the yard, the park, the living
room and the staircase landing. Each scene comprises 4 pages. The first
page shows where the baby is, followed by a page with a peep hole in the
centre. The third page describes what the little baby sees, and the
picture of the room appears on the fourth. The story is set roughly in the
1950s - 1960s period.
Our review
As always, rhymes are great fun, both for the children and the adults. It
can hold the children's attention much longer than a narrated story. The
peep hole allows you to guess which room/place the baby is in. The
pictures are so full of details that you'll have so much to talk about.
Who's in the family? What do they have for breakfast? The lifestyle of
that era. The pictures are in pastel colors. Therefore, this book is more
suitable for toddlers and above.

Harry Horse. Published by Puffin
Books. ISBN0140568514. Age 3-7. 32 pages. 215mm X 260mm (10.25 in X 8.5
in). 1992. Paperback.
Description
It was Little Rabbit's birthday and the whole family is going to Rabbit
World as a treat. Feeling very grown-up, Little Rabbit led the way and
often walked a distance ahead. Every time Papa and Mama reminded him not
to go too far, he gave a smug answer "But it's my birthday and I'm a
big rabbit now."
There was so much to see and suddenly he
couldn't find Papa and Mama. He is LOST! He asked many rabbits but no one
knows where they are. He felt so small and frightened. He began to cry.
Luckily for him, Mama spotted his red big balloon.
Our review
Doesn't this remind you of your own children? When you are out, especially
shopping, do you find yourself watching out for them as they scamper off
in all directions? Are you at your wit's end in telling them to keep close
to you? Help is here. Use this book as a tool to point out to your
children that they are just like Little Rabbit. The next time you go
shopping, just remind them about Little Rabbit Lost and you'll be
surprised to find them sticking to you. Besides that, there are so many
fun rides here. You can talk about what and why your children can/cannot
ride, depending on their ages.

Slinky
Malinki
(age 3 - 6
years)
Lynley Dodd. Published by Puffin
Books. ISBN0140544399. Age 3-6. 32 pages. 172mm X 229mm (6.75 in X 9 in).
1992. Paperback.
Description
Slinky Malinki is a black, stalking and lurking adventurous cat. At night,
he turned into a THIEF, stealing things, from sausages to old socks. He'll
dragged them all to his home on the hill. One particular night, something
went wrong. He got entangled in the heap of stolen items, caused a
commotion and woke the family up. From then on, he never dared venture out
at night no matter how great the temptation is.
Our review
A very entertaining book. The rhyme is catchy and the pictures captured
the character well. You can feel Slinky Malinki's cheekiness and
fiendishness. With the picture on the left page, accompanied by a short
rhyme on the right, it provides a delightful reading on a gloomy, rainy
day. You may even find your children reciting certain parts of it
themselves. Many different words are used to describe the cat and its
adventures. This would certainly help to expand your children's
vocabulary.
